gebr.silvestri is a Amsterdam-based design studio. We – Adrian Silvestri-Chyle and Stefan Silvestri – work as art directors and designers in two and three dimensions. We produce visual solutions in media ranging from print to online to 3D. Our projects range from brand identities and books through products to exhibition and stage design.
Following our five-year training in two- and three-dimensional design at Schule für Gestaltung St. Gallen and at Globus in St. Gallen in our native Switzerland, we both studied graphic design at Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Our design studio gebr.silvestri has been in business since 1994.
We have been giving workshops in typography and the language of images at Merz Akademie in Stuttgart since 1996 and teaching at Design Academy Eindhoven since 2004. In the past we gave workshops at Ecole des Beaux Arts in Mulhouse (1998–1999) and we taught at St Joost Akademie in Breda (2002–2004).

2007Book
Ulf Moritz has had a major impact on the world of design. His acclaimed portfolio of work includes numerous fabrics, carpets and wallpapers, as well as interior and architectural projects. In his choice of materials and his application of new concepts, Moritz has consistently introduced refreshing new designs in a style all his own. His clients include renowned international companies such as M.I.D., Intair, Interlübke, Felice Rossi, Oliver Treutlein and Danskina. Since 1986 he has designed a textile collection under his own name for the German Sahco Hesslein. Known for their colours, textures, light and sense of motion, Moritz’s designs often reference both the Bauhaus and the 1960s as recurring influences. They frequently feature highly refined and innovative combinations of threads and fibres, often highlighting previously hidden qualities of a particular material.
The book ‘Ulf Moritz: Fascination Textile’ documents the development of Moritz’s rich collection of fabric designs from 1992 to 2007 with beautiful photographs by Rudolf Schmutz. To reflect the high quality of both Moritz’s designs and Schmutz’s photography, we used different types of paper for full-colour printing. To reinforce the impact of the designs shown on various pages, for example, we used Hello Silk 130 GSM paper with an extra mother-of-pearl transparent lac. To distinguish a particular section of the book from the rest, we used Lessebo Design Smooth 130 GSM paper. Various other pages spread throughout the book are printed in either black and white or full colour on Glama Translucent 100 GSM paper. The 184-page book is bound in an uncoated black hardcover with a clean text image embossed in a reflecting iridescent film. A transparent jacket, printed in full colour, enters into play with the embossed film on the hardcover.
