gebr.silvestri is a Amsterdam-based design studio. We – Adrian Silvestri-Chyle and Stefan Silvestri – work as art directors and designers in two and three dimensions. We produce visual solutions in media ranging from print to online to 3D. Our projects range from brand identities and books through products to exhibition and stage design.
Following our five-year training in two- and three-dimensional design at Schule für Gestaltung St. Gallen and at Globus in St. Gallen in our native Switzerland, we both studied graphic design at Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Our design studio gebr.silvestri has been in business since 1994.
We have been giving workshops in typography and the language of images at Merz Akademie in Stuttgart since 1996 and teaching at Design Academy Eindhoven since 2004. In the past we gave workshops at Ecole des Beaux Arts in Mulhouse (1998–1999) and we taught at St Joost Akademie in Breda (2002–2004).

2012Book and film poster
The first time anyone was diagnosed with Aids in the Netherlands was in April 1982. In the more than 30 years since then, the situation regarding this deadly disease has undergone immense changes. These days, an Aids diagnosis is very rare in the Netherlands. Instead, people with HIV are living fully normal lives with what is essentially a chronic infection.
Author Erwin Kokkelkoren interviewed 30 different men and women who are living with HIV, each of whom was diagnosed in a different year from 1982 until 2012. Their stories surprise, move and inspire. Taken together, the portraits sketch the history of HIV and Aids in the Netherlands.
The 232-page hardcover book we designed was printed in full colour. Each of the individual stories opens with a two-page spread: text on the verso page and a full-page photograph on the recto page. For the typographical image we used the Collis typeface in both the title and the text.
The documentary film was produced in Dutch and English.
